Ive decided to cancel my subscription for the time being. Will possibly reactivate it later if the major issues im having with the game are solved. Right now the online issues like delay and warping unfortunately makes the game not very interesting to me.

Since online games have no real "goal" I try to strive for selfimprovement instead and the possibilities for that are extremely small in psu since the delay issues make avoiding damage largely luck based for melee combat (unless you have second sight). And the problem only gets worse with higher rank missions.

Another issue is that the game has included even more random elements than pso, which was the opposite to what I was hoping for. I was hoping for more skill based rewards like the gallons quest and challenge mode in pso but as far as I can tell theres absolutely nothing like that. Almost everything you can accomplish in the game is just a question of time and luck. Finding board/weapon, successfully synthing, successfully grinding. Of course trying to incorporate stuff like this with the delay as it is would just be a waste anyway. Imagine playing cmode in pso as a hunter without being able to reliably dodge hits.

This of course doesnt mean that I hate the game or even dislike it that much. If online had the same fluidity as offline I would probably be able to overlook the gameplay choices that I dislike. Its also nice having a good group of people to play with (although admittedly the level differences means ive mostly played with the same few people) but that alone doesnt feel like a good enough reason to play if im not enjoying the gameplay itself. Playing online isnt free after all so using the game as a chatroom would be a bit uneconomic.

Hope to see you all later in either a fixed version of this game or possibly a later one! Ill try to be reasonably active on the forums so I wont disappear completely either way.

if it helps any. the quest Bruces Dungeon proves to be a great challenge. and seems to be similar to C-mode type runs.

Sorry to hear about that Sopan. Hopefully you will be able to return soon. Like Opy said, with this new quest coming, maybe things will start picking up as far as challenges go.

Yeah Sopan, you've put across in detail what has kept me from playing much lately (apart from a few days like when I helped some OSGers with their alt chars).

I'm on vacation right now so I have plenty of time to play, but I often get that feeling "why bother?". There's just way too much in PSU that gets in the way of obtaining good equipment: spend ages to find the needed materials, then have to rely on luck to make the equipment, then rely on even more luck to grind it.
And don't get me started on money ... all the duped money still floating around, and OSG has already been influenced by that (50 mil sale anyone? Yeah, legit money for sure).

On PSO, it was only the drop rate percentage and nothing else that stood in your way of obtaining good equipment. Then, it was fun for me to run through a quest with the team to find a drop for someone and the experience points came naturally, but PSU feels like a real chore for me. This grinding element is what I already hated about most MMORPGs.

It really seems odd that I would usually prefer to have yet another go on the completely free Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, a game I have played regularly online since its release in 2003 and which did not cost me a single cent in all this time ...

Well we talked about this Sopan and i both understand and respect your choice.It's still sad to see you go but i cant disagree with you on the fact that getting better equipement requires only luck and has nothing to do with skill.Hope to cya soon.

I dont think I got the chance to play with you, but nevertheless it's sad to see you go. although, the equipment being all luck, I dont understand why that's a problem....PSO has always been like that. Rolling Eyes
