Mina's guide to getting Japanese voices on US PSU!

Ok everyone! I finally did it! I got Japanese voices on US PSU! XD without changing any of the english text or anything Razz

NOTE: this is for PC users only! (sorry had to say it XD)

For this you need AFS explorer and the patch i made "JPVOICEtry4.afp" I'm not sure how to upload them onto the forums but if any of you all know just tell me, or reach me by MSN :3

1 - Go to PSU installation folder
2 - In the DATA folder copy the file b787754faa6817fc3b980e751e0907f2 to another folder (It's for creating a backup)
3 - Add '.afs' extension to the end of the file name (Rename the one in the DATA folder).
4 - Launch AFS Explorer
5 - Open the file in the DATA folder [ File->Import AFS ] (Answer NO to the message box).
6 - [ Advanced->Import Patch ] select the file "JPVOICEtry4.afp"
First question = Yes
Second question = No
7 - Select all the items in the list
8 - Click "Patch"
9 - Select "Yes" at the message box
10 - Copy / Paste the original name of the file (DO NOT rewrite the backup file) so you would be copying "b787754faa6817fc3b980e751e0907f2" as the save file, in the DATA folder.
11 - Once the patched has been imported, close AFS Explorer.
12 - Got to the data folder once again and locate "b787754faa6817fc3b980e751e0907f2.afs" and either, cut/paste somewhere safe, or delete it Razz

13 - run psu and if it runs without error you've done everything correctly :3

And there ya have it! But note, it's only the PSU AOI voices, meaning the voices we got when we got AOI. not version 1 voices. so I guess it's ok if you want english voices some of the time or JP :3

Oh god, in fact my brother did this right after finding the jp voices for dressing room but since his character was using a PSU v1 voice he thought that it wasnt the right files lol. Nicely done anyway Razz

Maybe we should try to find a PSU v1 JP client in order to patch the old voices ...

yeah that might help tbh, to have the original v1 files XD but i think they might be too big for the US files, thus giving the error D:

either that, or i'm trying to add the wrong files XD

bit of an update:

For female voices, these are the ones that actually work: 5, 6, 7, 16, 17

and the ones that don't work: 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

I need someone to test the male voices XD I don't have any male chars, sorry Razz

thanks setsuna for helping me figure out what voices work and don't work.

ALSO! if you have JP voices, and so does your friend you CAN hear them speak in JP! O:

Voice 4 actually works for female but only for caseals.
My brother also got the casino announcer to speak in JP as well as all npc, yay no more Maya's "I know you could do it, you're so wonderfuuuul" XD
Sadly i can't help with male voices.

After a bit of research my brother and me both think that the remaining voices are in the data folder of AoI and that we dont need psu v1 JP to get them, many other files in that folder are also AFS files while a lot arent at all; also many files seem to be copies of the one contained in the AFS probably for lenght control purpose by the main client.Anyway we now have a lot of testing to do, i'll keep this updated once we have the time to check all that but for now we're too busy with GBR :3

toothball is trying this out, and seems to have had some success, heres the log:

[08:33] Toothball: The voices did work in the end. Turned out I'd exported the patched file to the wrong place.
[08:33] Opy: they work for everything?
[08:34] Toothball: I've tested it as far as changing voices as Lumilass.
[08:34] Opy: there was another post about it, seems the files are spread out all over the place or w/e
[08:34] Toothball: They all seem to be Japanese there for my Male human and female cast.
[08:35] Opy: do they do the battle crys etc?

Hey there, registered just to say thanks, I've been looking for a way to put JP voices in US game for a long time.
I've tried a couple of male voices, and unfortunately most don't seem to work in battle though you can hear them fine in Lumilass Confused

So, have guys figured out a way to use them outside of lumilass ? that would be neat Smile

I made a male cast last night, and tested out some voices, yes they all work in lumilass but not all of them Razz

The voice i ended up with was 17 i think, it didn't seem like he was speaking JP at first, but when i typed it !10 in the field he spoke in JP so yes most of the male JP voices work Razz

just bare with me i'm trying to figure out which ones do

and also, when i played with hapi on his male beast, and he nanoblasted XD he said a whole bunch in JP so yeah Razz

those of you who have male chars, specially with each type (human, cast, beast, newman) please go to lumilass and try out each voice for me. yes they will all work in lumilass BUT not all in the feild/room Razz

usually in the feild !10 is the one they speak alot in.
