My PT guide I'm not going to post anywhere.

It's mostly a satire, and me venting my frustrations regarding all the bullshit I hear about PT, in game, and online. I pretty much wrote it to stir the shit-storm pot on the PSO-World, and official PSU forums. But, I'd rather not get banned, so you're probably the only people who will read it.

Protranser is not for retards.

I'm tired of hearing all this bullshit about PT, about how it's weak, difficult, expensive, shunned, and so on, it's all bullshit. It's not, it never is, unless you're retarded. PT can be a straight damage dealer, either with melee weapons (which you won't be using for A LONG, LONG time), or with ranged weapons, it's great crowd control, and it's one of the best SE spreaders in the game. The most important part of making PT work is not being a fucking idiot, which a lot of you are, and thank God for Fighgunner, because without it, parties in this game would be a lot worse.

First, let's get this out of the way; there's two types of PTs. The PTs who went PT for attention, and the PTs who went PT because they just think it's a cool job. Look out for the first type of PT, because they want you to think it is terrible, and people do look down on them, and it is weak, and they are special for leveling it. The other PTs, their outlook is "yeah, it wasn't too bad, lot more fun now, though =D!". Those are the PTs you want to talk too. Not the little shits who went PT so everyone can pat them on the back for leveling the job that has to "struggle". Every job is going to struggle if you're too fucking stupid to play it right.

Let's break it down;

OMG PT IS WEAK; It is, if you're retarded. If you're dumb enough to melee with C rank weapons, yeah, it will seem weak. If you're too stupid to you know, move when a mob gets close to you while you have your bow out. If you don't have the common sense to go the extra foot (which is all it really is), to get some grinded bows, if you're ignorant enough to use C rank shotguns, then yes it's going to seem weak. But if you have some common sense (which I know a lot of you lack, so go back to Fortefighter), it will never seem weak. Here's what you do; don't touch a shotgun, spear, sword, saber, or handgun as a PT1. Get a Compadri, and grind the piss out of it. A Compadri+7 has 412 ATP, an Assassin (7* Rifle) has 443 ATP. That's not bad, not bad at all. Sure, we don't have the base ATP to make it hit THAT hard, but it's not bad. Weak? Hardly. Not bad? Not bad! Yeah, PTs, starting out, are weak in the DFP and HP department, but avoid getting hit, it's not that hard. You're gonna die a few times, but who cares? Scape dolls aren't that expensive.

OMG PT IS A CHALLENGE; Once again, if you're retarded. But if you're retarded, even Fighgunner is a challenge. I never found this "challenge". The most "challenging" part of PT, was dealing with other idiots telling me how weak they thought PT was, then I'd turn around and start hitting mobs harder with my bow, than they were with their B rank rifles. Level 40 Fortes don't use B ranks with 0 grinds. I know, a properly equipped Fortegunner will outdamage a PT1, but that isn't always the case. Have you seen the gear some of these fucks play with? Back to PT, there is no challenge if you have a fucking brain. If PT is "challenge" to you, play offline, please? Or be a Fortefighter with a lot of Scape Dolls.

OMG PT IS EXPENSIVE; I read someone on the official PSU forums who said they go through 50k in traps and Photon Charges per run. Bullshit. If you use a full stock of EVERY trap, and ten Photon Charges, the total will come to about 32k. That person was a fucking douchebag liar looking for attention. You will NEVER use 5 of every G trap, and 10 of every regular trap per run. You may end up using six five stacks of G traps, but that seldom happens. The reason why some people think PT is expensive is they look for reasons to use traps. They look for excuses to use traps. You don't NEED to use three traps in every room, you don't need to trap mobs that will die in ten seconds, that's just stupid, and if you are looking for excuses to use traps, you're playing PT to get people to notice that you're a PT, and should stop playing it, because no one's impressed. You want to impress people? Be a Fighgunner that actually uses Twin Handguns. Now, I'm not saying there aren't legitimate excuses to use traps, because there are, there are lots of them. Jabras, Polvas, Bees, giant bears on Moatoob, they should all have a DoT trap slapped on them. But those are legitimate excuses for using traps, not a "notice me" excuse for using a trap. As a 46Human/6PT, I'm spending about 10-20k on traps per A rank run. It's kind of expensive, but grab one photon a run, and you're set. This is why I always tell parties to put normal items to "Set In Order". That way I get photons filtered out to me, so I can pay for my traps.

OMG PARTIES WILL BOOT ME FOR BEING TEH WEAKS; Two things: One) if a party boots you for being "weak", those people are assholes, and you don't want to party with them anyway, and two), if you DID get booted, odds are it was because you were annoying, on top of a shitty PT, that got you booted, and not because you're a PT in general. I never took any shit because I was a PT, I did get a couple "Oh, you're a PT"s when people saw me use traps after spamming my Compadri's. No one ever said shit to me. Which is probably because I wasn't a gimp meleeing with Gigush. I had a full pallette of Compadri+7s. I'm not saying you need six Compadri+7s as a PT1, I'm saying that if you make the extra effort to make up for a starting PTs less than stellar stats, everything will be a lot easier.

I'm a level 27/PT1, what do I do?

Don't be intimidated by your stats, and don't do anything stupid like equip a Stella/Hit. I'm not saying a Stella/Hit is useless for PTs, but losing a third of your ATP is fucking weak. Now, first and foremost, get some Compadris, and grind them, grind the fuck out of them. I say that a lot, but holy shit does it help. +6 or +7 Compadris, it's worth it, because you'll be using those for a while. It'll make PT1-2 (and 3 if you have shitty luck grinding Baybaris) a lot easier. Level your fucking bullets, too. Getting bow bullets to tier 2 (bullet level 11) gives them a 25% elemental bonus. That's a lot. On top of that, they get level three side effects, those are also handy. Don't be an idiot, don't melee with 100ATP. All right? Just stick with the bows. I'm saying it, the versatile job ain't so versatile, at least, when it starts out. Bows are your best friends for a while, and as a 7PT, bows are still my best friend. Get used to them, you'll be using 'em for a while. They rock face (more ATP and ATA than rifles), so it's never really an issue.

When does PT get all the fun stuffs?

3x-40/PT4 is when it starts to get A LOT better. That's when your ATA starts to rocket up there, and you can equip A rank bows, Launchers, and other fun shit. Avoid Laser Cannons though, as they wang chung for a long while.

Do I have to use traps?

YES, YOU HAVE TO FUCKING USE TRAPS! Let's run down the reasons not to use traps; You're too retarded to make money. That's about it, and as I've said before, A LOT of you are retarded, and again, play Fighgunner or Fortefighter, and load up on the Scape Dolls. All you need to do is get ONE photon every other run to pay for your traps and then some. This is why Set in Order is so handy, you get shit filtered out to you, so you can pay for traps. Now I know there's a bunch of people who say they go through 20k a run in traps, and then some, but they're all bullshitters. You don't have to trap mobs that are only alive for twenty seconds. Trap the big mobs, if you're too stupid to figure out what big mobs are, then once again, go play Fighgunner. Trapping a Gol Dolva, or a Jarba with a Burn or Virus trap can end up doing 10k+ in total, use some fucking traps, kids.

I don't want to use bows.

Then level Fighgunner, or go Fortefighter with your fucking character named Naruto, or Sephiroth, use a Sword, and drive everyone fucking crazy with Tornado Break.

Do I have to use bows?

Is my ego so big I have to constantly belittle people to reassure myself that I am in fact, above them? YES! AND YES, YOU HAVE TO FUCKING USE BOWS! Bows are PTs weapon. Not Forteforce, not Guntecher, Bows belong to PTs. Look at the stats on Bows, that shit has ATA and ATP better than any Rifle. Don't bust out a Sword as a level 30/1PT you fucking Sephiroth wanna-be losers. Bows are THE BEST SE spreaders in the game. All you Fortegunners can blow it out your ass. If a PT wants to be an SE specialist, they can get some Hanmaterics, which have 340 ATA. That beats the hell out of 188 found on a Phantom. I know, I know, some of your smartasses are saying "WELL HANMATERICS ONLY HAVE 413 ATP, PHANTOMS HAVE 541!". An Alteric+10 has 268ATA, and 667ATP. Blow us, Fortegunners, blow us and enjoy it.

That's nothing new, 2/3 of the posting community on official board is just useless crap, why listen to them anyway.Besides it's not because a class is over-used that they are useless, kinda remind me how humars were labelled "noobs"; when you know how to use your brain, PT arent weak and are not only forced to fight using bows all the time (lol), fighgunners arent noob and all forte class arent crap in front of the overwhelming PT lol.In fact all class need others whose style is different from theirs to make the strongest parties but then again that's nothing new.
