update worth posting. It looks like most of the issues are not coming from the US, so it looks scary at first, but i dont think SEGA wants to start banning over seas users. I am wondering about credit card use though. I'd like to be able to buy AC now and then. Also looks like we will be able to move ships in Sept.

-------

Sakai added a clause to the PSO2 terms of service which basically forbids other countries from playing it. There was a similar description from the Alpha and Beta test but it has now returned.

They have already planned to launch PSO2 separately in North America / Europe in 2013. Also they are looking into launching it in Asia separately.

One of the reasons for this TOS change is to make it easier to address malicious users. Unfortunately it appears most of the malicious acts are coming from overseas territories. Even today, they had to take down the game for maintenance just to address exploits found by these players.

Since there have been many good foreign players who have already made progress into the game, they really do no want to cut off the connections of everyone playing outside of Japan. HOWEVER, if malicious acts from overseas players continue, they will be forced to take drastic measures. In addition, they are no longer accepting foreign card payments anymore also as a countermeasure against malicious players.

Of course there will be malicious activity in the future, and he asks that everyone continues to use the wicked user form to report them.

Future Updates

In September, 3 new classes and 5 new weapon categories are going to be implemented into the game. The new classes are in similar line with the 3 existing classes consisting of close range combat, long distance combat, and tech and you’ll be able to use the new weapon categories with these classes. In order to access these new classes, you must be level 30 in either Hunter, Ranger, or Force, and clear a specific client order. When you change to the new classes you’ll start at level 1.

Since many players have requested the ability to move their characters across different ships, he plans to implement this service in the update in September. And by popular demand, he’s going to update the way the recycle shop works which can only mean one thing! Not only will you be able to use AC costumes to trade, but you can also use the items you get from the AC Scratch.

In addition to the existing client orders, he’s also going to implement something like a daily client order. With “Daily Orders” the client order contents are different each day.

Even the team features are going to be expanded upon. There will be client orders that team members can perform. If you accumulate points, you can have your very own Team Room!

Premium Package Mag

It was mentioned that the premium package was going to have a mag evolution device. PSO1 players should be familiar with the Sato mag! Also expect 5 original weapons in the premium package. What they are is a mystery at this point.

Sure sounds like the US/EU server will be separate, which is a shame. Unfortunately I've seen this done with other Japanese servers on other games, basically region locking to just themselves, so while they may not want to, it might happen anyways from "peer pressure" by the Japanese players. I have no idea where this will go but I hope you who enjoy playing on the JP server get to stay there.

this is kinda why i wish it wasnt free to play... the "free to play community" always attracts alot of bad / immature people and so on...

I can see it now on the NA/EU server...

bunch of little kids running around harrassing eachother
hackers hacking everything to hell
Bots spamming chat selling meseta

basically common things in any MMO, specially free to play ones...

tbh I wouldn't mind PSO2 being pay to play..it would stop alot of what i mentioned or at least narrow it down alot...

but we'll prolly have those same kiddies from the PSP2 game all in here with their "I NEED GF" game room names and hacking up storms :/

Sega isnt my concern anymore about PSO2 in fact they are on my good list for now (cus sonic team isn't involved) its the community that im more worried about....

I don't think that comes with f2p, reather with popularity. Look at wow, tera, or aion when it was new... Besides, there isn't a good enough game in the world I would play monthly to play. There are already more f2p MMOs in existance than I will ever be able to play in my lifetime...

And yeah, japos don't like foreigners, deal with it.

Personally I say serves them right for rushing into it and not waiting for the English version like the rest of us with sense. That obsessed with PSO that you couldn't wait? Seriously?

On the other hand only the bad players causing the BS are the ones who really should take the beating. Seems like there's always those people that ruin it for everyone.

In the end I really don't know what think on this other than let's just see how it plays out...

Yes I can foresee something like that happening as well. Maybe we'll get lucky and not have to see such nonsense. Heh.

There will always be bad eggs within a community, it's an inevitable fact. No matter how secluded you make a game server, there will be malicious users.

I can't really say "oh if only it wasn't a F2P game", as having played plenty of both F2P and P2P games, I've seen the dark side on both ends. There will always been people that want to hack the server or client to some degree or another for their own amusement, even if they don't actually benefit in reality or within the game. It's just entertainment to them. RMT (real money trade) will always exist in a game where currency gives an advantage, and the bots that advertise them will exist as well.

As for the segregation of servers, we all saw it coming, only daring to hope the pattern would be broken. We all already know that the US/EU version will never catch up in content, or even stay at the same pace. That's just how it is, and that's why those of use that are "that obsessed with PSO" are playing on the JP servers to begin with.

But really, at the end of the day: blame having PSO-World, 4chan, and Reddit on the same block. 3 god awful communities of games in 1 place is never a good recipe.

If I interpreted all of that correctly it sounds like they're allowing you to choose ships which means we have more that enough opportunity to avoid all of the BS that comes with all forms of online gaming (yes, its in both F2P and P2P in a bunch of different forms).

I would prefer to play on US servers myself considering they're easier to interpret (not that much of the JP client is hard). It might not get content at the same rate but you're not competing with the people on the JP servers so its not really a relevant issue for me.

I agree with V. Though I only played a few pay to play MMOs (World of Warcraft and Phantasy Star Universe) compared to the free to play games I played (Elsword and Rusty Hearts for example). I haven't met people like hackers, etc. since in the free to play games, I play most of the time with friends or solo. In World of Warcraft, I soloed most of the time, though I did play with randoms sometimes. (And sometimes very rarely with friends.) But, I heard of friends being hacked in both free to play and pay to play games. So, yeah.

Where did you read that the exploits weren't coming from the US Opy? It's also worth noting that 海外, translated to 'overseas', does not only refer to the US, but any foreign country.

Not accepting foreign card payments is an interesting one. I guess they already started enforcing it? I don't immediately see how this would help the hacking attempts. The only thing I could think of is to slow down the impact of item hacks by making My Shop off limits. But there are My Shop tickets that you can buy from other players without the use of AC.

Not to mention quite a lot of foreign players are willing to buy AC. I also want to buy some AC when I feel like it. I hope I can still do that one way or another.

Also, I really doubt we will be able to move our characters from ship to ship as we can with blocks. If we could, some ships would be overcrowded and some others barely used. Not a good way to distribute server load and utilize their expensive hardware. I expect the feature to be AC and quite expensive as well.

Agreed. Though "quite expensive" is relative, definitely expensive in USD, as USD to Yen is pulling teeth.

The real question is can the servers even handle that much fail at once?
